A Joyful Welcome for Our New Bishop
The Ministry for Priestly Support joins the entire Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux in celebrating the episcopal ordination of Bishop Simon Peter Engurait!
What a moment of grace for our local Church. To witness a man of such humility, wisdom, and pastoral heart be entrusted with the fullness of the priesthood was both moving and deeply encouraging.
We are profoundly grateful for Bishop Simon Peter’s friendship and support over the years. Long before his ordination as bishop, he consistently showed his love for priests, his commitment to their well-being, and his desire to build a Church rooted in communion and mission. His leadership has already strengthened us, inspired us, and helped further the mission of MPS in concrete and meaningful ways.
Today, we simply want to say publicly and joyfully: we love our bishop. We thank God for the gift of his life, his vocation, and his service. We rejoice in the grace that the Lord has poured into our diocese through him.
And looking ahead, we eagerly look forward to walking with Bishop Simon Peter in the years to come—supporting his vision, collaborating with him in the work of priestly renewal, and standing with him as he shepherds the people of God entrusted to his care.
May the Lord continue to bless Bishop Simon Peter Ingrate abundantly, and may Our Lady intercede for him as he begins this new chapter in his ministry.
